{The Merlin’s Invention Series}
The exciting story of Merlin’s accidental time travel. Follow his lost loves and the pursuit of advanced technology that confound him in his effort to return to his time. A 4 volume series. 2 books are completed / 2 books are works-in-progress. The original version was too epic. In the editing process, I decided to rewrite this time travel novel as a four (or possibly five) book series based upon the feedback from my beta readers.
Book 1: Time, Not Space
Merlin is an MIT Graduate student involved in an exciting project to develop a new form of space travel, the vortex generator. A testing accident unexpectedly propels him back in time 100 years.
Adjusting to a different society is difficult. The lack of technology is a major hindrance in his efforts to recreate the vortex generator. He struggles with life as he works to return to his own time. Including the temptation to stay. All the time trying to avoid the time travel conundrums of doing something which will alter the future, possibly eliminating his ability to return.
Book 2: The Search for Electricity
Recreating the vortex generator to return Merlin to his own time had a flaw. in this book, Merlin finds himself back in time another 200 years facing new problems. How can Merlin recreate a vortex generator to get home in pre-revolutionary America? A land without electricity.
Book 3: Merlin’s Backwards Life
Almost ready to go forward in time. Instead, a lightning strike hurls Merlin back 400 years to the undiscovered lands of America. To get the metalworking skills necessary to build another vortex generator he must cross the Atlantic. Merlin leads a hearty band of travelers as Native Americans discover England.
Book 4: Inventing Camelot
{Pending 2023} The great science fiction writer Arthur C Clarke’s Third Law states: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Time traveling 800 years back into medieval England we discover a classic chicken and the egg problem. Does his use of advanced science and technology in service to his king invent the myth of Merlin the wizard? Or does Merlin invent the mythical kingdom of Camelot?
